The Central CT Freedom Ride Taxi Voucher/Debit Card Program provides accessible transportation outside of the existing ADA service area. This service is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. The service is available to individuals who have been Paratransit ADA certified. Participant debit card payments are matched 100% (to the extent funding remains available) through the New Freedom.
Currently certified ADA riders are immediately eligible for the Freedom Ride Voucher Program, based onthe conditions of your certification. For status clarification, to determine eligibility, or apply for a FreedomRide voucher card, contact Greater Hartford Transit District at 860-247-5329 extension 3100. ADA staffwill interview individuals for the Freedom Ride Program as part of the eligibility determination process. Ifeligible, you may use the voucher card with all Executive 2000 taxis, not only the wheelchair accessible taxis. The service area to use the Central CT Freedom Ride Voucher Program requires that each trip must either BEGIN or END in one of the following towns: Berlin, Cromwell, Durham, East Hampton, Haddam, Middlefield, Middletown, New Britain, Newington, Portland, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield. Yellow Cab Company operates additional Freedom service in the Hartford area and Metro Taxi operates similar service in the New Haven area. You must have a voucher for the taxi company that is providing your trip.
Once approved for the Freedom Ride Program, send a check or money order made payable to GHTD(either by mail or in person) to One Union Place, First Floor North Offices, Hartford, CT 06103. The initial $25.00 payment is matched by $25 from the program creating a $50 debit/voucher card. The maximum match per month is $100. You will receive a debit card encoded with the dollar amount available for use shortly after payment is received. Attendants, Companions, Personal Care Attendants (PCAs), and service animals ride free with an ADA certified rider who needs assistance. The eligible rider and PCA must have the same origin and destination, and the voucher card may only be used by the ADA certified rider.
Lost Taxi Voucher/Debit Cards - Report lost voucher/debit cards immediately to Executive Taxi. A new voucher/debit card will be issuedand any unused funds will be transferred to the new card.

CANCELLATIONS made within one hour of pickup time will not be charged.
NO SHOWS that occur outside the licensed territory will be charged from place of origin to the closest town within the territory.
